Summer Soul Centenary Celebration of the Hydro Winter Gardens
The Friends of QEHS held a Buffet Evening in July to celebrate the centenary of the Winter Gardens. The large glasshouse was constructed in 1907 to lengthen the summer season of the Tynedale Hydropathic Hotel. Furnished with tropical palms, exotic flowers and an ornamental goldfish pond, visitors could partake of the tapped spa water or purchase 'shilling teas'.

During the centenary event, music was provided by the QEHS Soul Band and there was a display of Winter Gardens memorabilia.
