"Now is an exciting time to be a student of the social sciences. Rapid changes in the way we live are having profound effects on all our lives. The desire to understand such changes is what led to the development of the social sciences in the first place. Now social sciences find themselves at the forefront of public debate and intellectual advance. Changing structures of family life and the relative roles of men and women; radical alterations in the world of work; the changes in our health and social care, the advent of new technology; the increasing role of the media, enviromental change -all these and more pose challenges for our understanding of society, social policy, and the social, psychological and communication processes that constitute our world.

At Queen Elizabeth High School the Department of Social Sciences comprises of Health and Social Care, Media Studies, Psychology and Sociology"
