We host workshops and residencies by a wide variety of groups and individuals working in visual art, music, dance and drama.  We also work closely with local arts organisations such as Queen’s Hall Arts Centre, Dance City and the Sage Gateshead.

In February 2006 Tamsin Sasha, Director of ‘Actors of Dionysus’ will lead her second residency at QEHS working with A level drama students.

Over the past two years thanks to the Samling Foundation our choir and orchestra have worked with the Southbank Symphonia and partner schools in workshops and to perform as part of Hexham Abbey Festival.  A third event is planned for 2006.

In 2004 and 2005 we hosted residencies by Tibetan monks and young Tibetan performers.  Staff also visited the monastery of Tashi Lhunpo in India to learn about sacred dance and music.  A third residency is planned for 2007.

Dance students will participate in workshops led by Ballet Rambert in February of 2006.
There is an annual conference for A level drama students run by the Royal Shakespeare Company.

‘Dodgy Clutch’ gave a performance as part of a Year 12 day on fair trade.

There are regular music workshops such as African drumming and dance and ‘Beat the World’ drum workshops.
