Consultation on a federation of Hexham Middle School and Queen Elizabeth High School.

The governing bodies of Hexham Middle School and Queen Elizabeth High School are consulting on a proposed federation of the two schools with effect from lst. September 2008.

We are proud of the achievements of our schools and want to make them even better. We believe that we would have a greater capacity to do so by working more collaboratively together. The proposed federation will enable both schools to benefit from efficiencies of scale and to minimise duplication while retaining their individual identities. This would maximise classroom resources, help with recruitment and retention of staff and help us to continue to provide the quality and range of learning opportunities for all our pupils.

Each school would continue to be funded and inspected individually but there would be one governing body responsible for the federation.

Details of the proposed federation can be found in the booklets which are available for download below.

Consultation meetings for staff and parents will be held at each school and there will be a public consultation meeting. You are invited to attend these meetings as appropriate.
