GCSE Physical Education - Year 11

There are four units at GCSE level:
B451 and B452 complete in Year One
B453 and B454 complete in Year Two

  • B451 – Introduction to PE (exam – 20%)
  • B452 – Practical Performance (two sports – 20%) and Analysing Lifestyle (Controlled Assessment – 10%)
  • B453 – Developing Knowledge in PE (exam – 20%)
  • B454 – Practical Performance (two sports – 20%) and Analysing Performance (Controlled Assessment – 10%)

Practical Assessment: (B452 / B454)

During the course students will be assessed in a range of activities on the school site and at Wentworth Leisure Centre. Students are also able to use activities that can not be offered in school such as rock climbing, horse riding and skiing (full list of activities is available from the PE staff and Moodle / Nortle). If they wish to do this they need to provide video evidence for the external moderator so they can assess their performance.

The external moderation for practical activities takes place between April and May. The moderator will select the activities they want to assess and provide us with a selection of students they want to moderate.
