Performing Arts - Year 11 :: Queen Elizabeth High School

BTEC First Diploma in Performing Arts (Performance) (Edexcel Level 2 ) - Year 11

You will study 7 units over the two years on the course across all three performing arts disciplines. You will complete assignment briefs with realistic, work based scenarios and projects.
There are no exams in the BTEC course; instead you will produce an ongoing series of tasks that will show you have met certain criteria. These will be provided with each assessment task. You will have to participate in public performances in order to pass the course.

Half Term 1 (September - October)

Unit B8: Musical Theatre Performance

The aim of this unit is to develop learners’ skills in musical theatre performance. Learners are required to use relevant skills from the disciplines of dance, drama and music in equal measure in a performance of a musical theatre work.

Unit A3: Production Process

This unit could be subtitled ‘Showtime’ as it gives learners the chance to understand the process that is essential when putting on a public performance, from initial idea to first night. It allows learners to apply skills, knowledge and understanding specific to their discipline, through involvement in, and contribution towards, the working process and realisation of a public performance.
