Rugby News

congratulations to our Y11 rugby team who beat KEVI Morpeth tonight 29-12 in what was billed as the ‘unofficial’ county cup final. These 2 teams are 2 of the best sides in the county, and they drew their recent meeting, and there’s a chance they may meet again later in the season in the county cup proper. Unfortunately I didn’t get a photo but it might be nice to share the brief report below in briefing/assembly?

U16 Boys Rugby vs KEVI (Morpeth)
QEHS took on KEVI (Morpeth) for the second time this season on Tuesday. Following on from their recent draw, both teams were looking to earn bragging rights as the top team in the county. QE started brightly, but conceded 2 quick tries against the run of play to find themselves 12-0 early in the first half. They regrouped and began to gain a foothold in the game, with Teddy S-K pouncing on a loose ball to score QE’s first try and take them into half time 12-5 down.

The second half started strongly with Khanel W going over powerfully within the first 5 minutes. From then on, QE took control and played some magnificent rugby. Elliott P scored a great try from halfway after a wonderful chip and chase, Thomas W scored in his first game back after an injury layoff and Will F rounded off the scoring going over from close range. All players from 1-20 played their part in a strong all-round performance, but player of the match went to Nicholas N for his excellent ball carrying and superb work at the breakdown. Well done to all!
