This week the PE department hosted ‘Scotty’s Day’ for our 6th form students in memory of our previous Curriculum Leader of PE, Chris Scott. On Scotty’s Day, we bring the 6th formers together to step away from their studies and enjoy an afternoon of sporting activities. Chris was an inspiring teacher, a dedicated colleague, and someone who brought energy, humour, and wholehearted passion to everything he did. His loss was felt deeply across our school community, and each year we come together to honour his memory in a way that reflects who he was: joyful, active, and committed to the wellbeing of others.
Special thanks to Clare-Jane Rewcastle from Tynedale Hockey Club and QE staff Miss Smith, for leading the hockey activities during the afternoon.Scotty’s Day this year was simply outstanding. The 6th form students were exceptional in their participation, attitude, sportsmanship, kindness and generosity. The PE department were delighted with the number of students who were involved and can’t compliment the students enough on their conduct throughout the afternoon in just dance, badminton, volleyball, table tennis, netball, hockey, football and rugby.
Special thanks to Clare-Jane Rewcastle from Tynedale Hockey Club and QE staff Miss Smith, for leading the hockey activities during the afternoon.
Mr Scott’s family wanted to express their sincere thanks to our 6th formers; they were overwhelmed by the generosity and respect shown by all those students who attended and could not speak highly enough of the level of engagement and kindness displayed.

This year, as always, we are proud to use Scotty’s Day to raise funds for two charities close to our hearts:
❤️ Tynedale Hospice at Home
❤️ The British Heart Foundation
Both organisations make a vital difference to families in our community and beyond, providing care, support, and lifesaving research. Thank you for all the incredibly kind and generous donations that have been received.
We would particularly like to thank Fire and Dough (who supported us for the 5th year running) and kindly donated all money from their pizza sales, generously contributing over £850. Thank you!
Thanks to all students who also brought cakes in for our cake stalls. The range of cakes was amazing!
If you would still like to donate you can do so on MCAS (in the store), or via the JustGiving link below:
By donating, you are not only supporting two incredible charities — you are helping us honour Chris’s memory in a positive, lasting way.
Thank you for supporting Scotty’s Day.
