QEHS Rowing – Berwick

QEHS rowers were in action again this weekend. Saturday saw our rowers competing on the mighty River Tweed. This event write up is from our club captain – Imogen B.

Saturday saw some strong performances from our crews at 5.7k Berwick Head. Despite a slightly chaotic start — arriving a solid ten minutes after the boys were meant to have boated — everyone managed to pull it together impressively, tackling Berwick’s infamous beach launch with trademark composure (and only mild panic). Our J17 boys’ quad (Dennis, Mack, George, James) stormed down the course to take fastest boat of the day, followed by our coach Kevin’s crew in second, and our J18 boys’ quad (Alexis, Felix, Jacob, Alex) securing third fastest – an outstanding showing all round. The J15 girls’ quad (Maeve, Annabelle, Madeleine, Bella, Imogen) also put in a fantastic performance, winning their category before they even started as the only entry, but still clocking an impressive time and completing a dramatic overtake on a women’s masters quad. A huge well done to everyone who raced – another great day of rowing completed!
