Captain Alexis reports on this memorable event:
On Thursday, a QEHS crew consisting of Alexis, Alex, Felix, Benji and Adam coxing travelled down to compete in the first ever Junior 4s Head in London on the Tideway.
The race was held on the Friday after a long trip down. The crew boated at Cygnet Rowing Club near Barnes Bridge. The QEHS crew faced off against some of the country’s top crews, borrowing a boat from a former coach Tom’s school.
The competition was fierce, and the weather was appalling while out on the course. The boys pushed hard, and we finished a respectable 21st out of 25 place finish. QEHS was the most northern crew at the event and the only state school boat of over 200 to race on the day. We all want to give a big thank you to Pam and Kevin for giving us this opportunity.
