We took 50 students completing GCSE and A level Drama, Dance and LAMDA, to the amazing production of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe at the fabulous theatre, Sunderland Empire last week. Our students were blown away by the production, which featured a very talented ensemble cast of actor-musicians, impressive stage trickery and magic, superb lighting and costumes and last but not least, stunning puppetry, developed by our very own Toby Ollié – a former student of HMS and QEHS!
We are hoping to invite him in to talk to our students about his inspirational career journey and experience as a successful puppeteer (he is currently working on a production of the BFG).
Our students represented the school brilliantly and we have been enjoying our reflections with them in lessons since, they loved the production and have plenty of inspirational key moments to use for their theatre review requirements.
