The QEHS Winter Concert was a roaring success last half term!
The concert, held in the Winter Gardens, was full-to-capacity as audience members watched a jam-packed programme of around 80 performers, featuring the school’s Show Choir, Wind Band, Jazz Ensemble, Session Singers, QEHS Choir, Soul Band, String Ensemble and a whole host of high-standard solos and duets.
Musical theatre pieces included ‘All That Jazz’ performed by the Show Choir and outstanding vocal solos performed by Lottie R in a performance of ‘The Ballad of Jane Doe’ from Ride the Cyclone and by Evie W in ‘Maybe This Time’ from Cabaret.
Wind Band performed ‘Jamaican Folk Suite’, Soul Band wowed the audience with ‘Blame it on the Boogie’ and one of Fiona Lander’s own compositions ‘It’s Time’ was performed by the QEHS Choir.
Brilliant instrumental duets included a piece of Pleyel performed by Anni G and her teacher Sarah Roberts as well as a Telemann flute duet performed by Bess D and Lizzie B.
Bringing pop and rock touches were Daniel H with guitar and vocal solo ‘Tears from Heaven’, Bea S in her bass solo ‘In the Meantime’ and grade 8 distinction drummer Joshua H performed ‘Schism.
Miss Tindall said: “We were delighted to present this concert and the audience loved every single performance within the concert. We work really hard all year round in our extra-curricular activities and are proud to offer such a varied range of musical opportunities. Performances such as these are a real highlight of the school year and give students a fantastic opportunity to showcase their hard work and talent.”
