Cory in Y9 has been selected for the Team GB junior roller derby Development Team, to train with the 2027 Team GB squads over the next year. His selection follows tryouts that were held across the UK this year, with skaters from Orkney to Devon competing. The standard was incredibly high.
Being a member of the Development Team puts Cory in an excellent position to get a place in Team GB for the 2029 World Cup, and he still has the chance to be selected for two remaining places for the 2027 World Cup, which will be decided as training progresses. The 2027 World Cup is being held in Glasgow, following previous cups held in Australia, France, US.
This is an amazing achievement- roller derby is a highly competitive full contact team sport which, as well as building resilience and teamwork, is very inclusive and welcoming.
