Hexham Town Council and Grow Hexham initiative were recently invited to judge a shortlist of poetry submissions from some of our QEHS students.
Students had been given a brief to write about local landscapes/ places of interest in the North East and to celebrate regional identity, with the idea of spring and growth in mind.
Hexham Council are partnered with Hexham library and are part of a wider European initiative called ‘Stories from our patch’ which is funded by the European cultural fund.
One of their co-ordinators visited Amsterdam and took 7 of our poems to share with other libraries.
Logan H was chosen as the winner and Emily H was the runner-up.
Their poems were seen/ read by key figures from The Arts Council, European libraries, the Head of Amsterdam libraries and communications group representatives.
It was an enormous achievement and we are very proud of all of the students who displayed some wonderful talent in their submissions.
Respect. Engage. Aspire.
