The U15 lads have kept their incredible run going by qualifying for National Round 2 of the new Knight-stokes cricket cup. They are now in the last 16 teams in the country! They will be playing other area winners down in Wakefield next week.
They won their first game v’s Thorp academy. Thorp batted first and made 93 all out and after a shaky start we were 31 runs for 6 wickets after 9 overs, managed to knock the total off in the 15th over.
Pick of the bowlers were:
🏏 Rowan P – 4 wickets for 14 runs off 4 overs
🏏 Fran H – 2 wickets for 25 runs off 4 overs
Pick of the batters were;
🏏 Billy B – 34 runs not out – a match winning knock that included a huge 6 into the pavilion!
🏏 Sonny S (Y9) – 18
This meant that the lads qualified for the last 32 in the country and had a game v St Leonards from Durham to qualify for the last 16 and National Round 2.
St Leonards batted first and made 132 runs for 7 wickets in their 20 overs with wickets coming from:
🏏 Patrick F – 2 wickets for 16 runs from 4 overs
🏏 Sonny S – 2 wickets for 20 runs from 4 overs
🏏 Fran H – 2 wickets for 25 runs from 2 overs
After losing 2 early wickets we composed ourselves and put in the best team batting performance I’ve seen from them. They rotated the strike well, ran between the wickets with intent and punished the bad balls. We knocked them off with overs spare.
