Our year 9 played their first game of the season away to Dame Allan’s; arguably the toughest fixture in the calendar! The first half was hard going at times as QE started slowly and allowed Dame Allan’s to run in 5 tries across the half. QE did manage to respond at times with 2 good scores of their own through a fine finish in the corner by Charlie P and another from Daniel BM.
In the second half, the QE boys were revitalised (despite conceding with the first play of the half). Excellent work in the forwards by Zach A and Henry BB set up a platform for the backs to work the ball through the hands, which allowed Jake A and Daniel BM to finish off some fine team moves. Daniel took his tally to 4 tries overall with an outstanding display of speed and power and really showing off his finishing ability. Zach A and Hector also managed to get on the scoresheet to complete a remarkable comeback. An impressive 6/8 tries were converted by Rory A to make the final score 52-38.
