On Tuesday 21 November the school celebrated the remarkable achievements of this year’s Duke of Edinburgh cohort. The group did presentations of their experience that celebrated the nature and heritage of their expedition. Advice ranged from wearing waterproofs to avoiding cows. This week saw the annual debate between the debate club and the green club. The motion was: This House would fine people for not recycling. The speeches on both sides were excellent with some insightful comments in the floor debate. The audience felt that the time had come for harsher action to stop climate change and the motion was carried
We are very sad to report that Neil Morrison, former Federation Headteacher across QEHS and HMS, passed away on Wednesday morning. It was unexpected and has come as a real shock. As well as being a thoroughly nice person, Neil was an excellent leader of the schools, having previously been deputy headteacher and headteacher of QE. He was also headteacher
QE High School raised over £150 for Children in Need. The staff netball match drew in the crowds at lunchtime with a victory for Mr Pym’s pink team. It was a joyful lunchtime event and a worthwhile cause. If families would still like to donate, there is a donations page on School Gateway.

During the half-term week, Year 13 students went on a GeoScience visit to Iceland to learn about volcanic activity and management.
