The sections below contain resources and instructions for students who are working at home.

Departments have used a variety of methods to upload online resources. We have created a crib sheet that lists all online learning platforms used by each department (broken down by year group), how to access each platform, and who to contact if you are having any issues accessing the online learning.

Most of the online platforms can be accessed via links on our Students page.

Please note that Moodle is also available as an app for mobile devices/tablets. When opening the app for the first time, you will need the web address of our Moodle site to access it on the app: https://www.qehs.net/moodle2/

If you need help accessing feedback from teachers on Moodle, please see Online Learning: How to Access Feedback for step-by-step instructions.

Unit 1

Unit 1 is the examined content. These exams will be sat by all Year 12 students and selected Year 13 students.

The revision guides will be posted on Moodle for students (especially Year 13 students) to access at home. You should aim to complete all three past papers and the revision guide.

The teachers will also put lesson material onto Moodle and may additionally email material on a lesson by lesson basis.

Year 13 should sign up to their Seneca class code 1sycsd3yrc) where the relevant material has been assigned to them. This will take 5-7 hours to complete. Please note that although Seneca will help them recap the majority of the course it does not provide complete coverage and should not be the only resource used for revision.

Unit 3

Unit 3 is a resit exam that selected Year 13 students will do. Mr Jesper will put a revision guide and revision mats on Moodle. Students have already been given paper copies of these in school. Mr Jesper can be contact via email tjesper@qehs.net for further support if needed.

Unit 8

Unit 8 is the Year 13 assignment work. Mrs Fraser has set up OneDrive folders for each student which include their submissions and the marking sheet. Students may be asked to complete individual tasks and should check their QEHS email every two days until Mrs Fraser has told them that their assignment work is complete. Mrs Fraser can be contacted by emailing rfraser@qehs.net.

Year 13 Additional Information

Following the release of Unit 3 results on 17/03 Mrs Fraser will endeavour to have individual conversations with each student and discuss who will be resitting what and any actions that need to be taken by student. If students are not in this will be done over email.

Year 13 will receive an email from their teachers to guide them in what they should be doing in each lesson that they should be in Biology.

Teachers will be setting specific lessons and sharing PowerPoints/resources. There are also revision resources and exam practice on Moodle. Seneca and Kerboodle will be used by teachers to check student understanding.

All Year 13 students have been provided with a pack of resources to take away. The Year 13 work pack consists of the following:

  • Specimen set 2 paper 1 + mark scheme (not available to students on AQA website)
  • Specimen set 2 paper 2 + mark scheme (not available to students on AQA website)
  • Specimen set 2 paper 3 + mark scheme (not available to students on AQA website)

Submission of Work

Year 13 English Literature Remote Learning – Guidance

Coursework:

Please remind yourself of the deadlines for coursework and ensure that you liaise with your supervisor via school email in order to meet the deadlines.

Revision and Practice Questions:

You have been issued with the Long Term Plan for lesson coverage until the examinations.

You will find the specific tasks and resources in One Drive under Year 13 Literature. Within this folder, you will find work located according to date. Each folder will contain tasks and resources – approximately enough for a fortnight (in addition to your normal revision).

For the ‘core’ essay questions (these are the ones on the plan) we will provide model responses. Once you have written a response, email it directly to your teacher and they will be able to provide feedback. Given the nature of emailed responses, please appreciate that we will be unable to annotate the body of the essay, but will provide you with plenty of guidance regarding your strengths and weaknesses in relation to particular assessment objectives in a summative response. Your teacher will then email a model response so that you can compare your essay and make developmental notes.

In addition to this, please refer to the general ‘How to revise Paper 1 and Paper 2’ documents that were issued before Christmas and follow the guidance carefully. There is no substitute for knowing the texts well – quotations, key language, form and structure, context, wider literary tradition and critical interpretation. Don’t ever try to ‘exam spot’ questions and base your essays around these limited themes/ideas. Our coverage and suggestions are just to give you practice opportunities around the central ideas of a given text; we are not suggesting that these are what will be on the paper – there is simply no way of predicting that. Therefore:

  • Know your texts well
  • Know HOW to answer the texts

Also, we recommend that you watch any decent film version of Wuthering Heights (1992 version is closer to the story and covers both generations. Just excuse dodgy ghost child at the end!).  The 1995 film version of Othello with Laurence Fishburne and Kenneth Branagh is also good. Try to view an RSC version online if you can too.

Week 2 Focus: Task 1 corrections

The History department have created class groups using Microsoft Teams for each of the Year 13 classes. This will allow students to stay in contact with one another and their class teachers. Students have also been given copies of everything they need in terms of revision materials, booklets and teaching materials.

Within these groups staff have provided teaching materials for both the British and American sides of the course. Students are able to access copies of the booklets they have already used/will need moving forward, teaching tasks and all the revision materials they will need.

If students have any questions for their teacher or each other then they can submit these using this class group forum. Staff will regularly update the materials and will make students aware of when this has taken place. Staff can also be contacted via their staff email addresses and we would encourage students to do so if they have any queries whatsoever.

Students can submit any practice questions to staff via their staff email address.
