QEHS Under 19s created a landmark moment in the school’s sporting history with a superb 3–1 victory over Cramlington Learning Village Under 19s, securing the Chronicle Cup for the first time ever.
The magnitude of the occasion was matched by a blistering start from QEHS, who took the lead after just two minutes. Leo struck early, igniting celebrations and setting the tone for a confident, attacking display. Buoyed by the breakthrough, QEHS dominated large spells of the first half, moving the ball with quality and intent and creating a host of chances. On another day, the tie could have been out of sight long before half‑time.
After the interval, Cramlington Learning Village briefly threatened to derail QEHS’ historic push, equalising in the 50th minute and raising the tension in a fiercely contested Cup final.
However, this QEHS side showed exactly why they were destined to make history. Their response was calm, composed and determined. Just five minutes later, QEHS regained the lead when James delivered a fantastic cross, met by Max, who showed great desire to bundle the ball home and restore QEHS’ advantage.
From that moment, QEHS grew in confidence, continuing to press forward while remaining disciplined defensively. Despite missing further clear chances, their control and belief never wavered. As Cramlington pushed forward in the closing stages, QEHS delivered the perfect ending to a historic afternoon.
In the dying seconds of the match, Jamie produced a moment of pure brilliance, smashing home a spectacular volley to make it 3–1 and seal an unforgettable first Chronicle Cup triumph in the school’s history.
This performance will live long in the memory — a display full of quality, resilience and attacking flair, and a result that firmly etches this QEHS Under 19 team into school folklore. ![]()
