Year 13 Biologists visited the Centre for Life on Monday/Tuesday this week to carry out an analysis of one of their own genes. The students isolated DNA, and carried out PCR and a restriction digest before carrying out gel electrophoresis in order to work out which alleles they have. This supports them with their work on gene technology and has allowed them to carry out techniques that most students don’t experience until university.
