QEHS rowers attended the National Schools Regatta which this year was held at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham. Some of our students competed at the Wentworth leisure centre on the 14th June at the county round of the English Schools Track & Field Championships. From that round Billy (Junior boys 1500m), Arthur (Intermediate boys 1500m) and Magnus (Intermediate boys 800m) went through to represent Northumberland at the Inter-Counties round competing against Cleveland, Cumbria, Durham and North Yorkshire. Our rowing club is undertaking a fundraising event on Tyne Green this Saturday between 9am and 1pm. The rowers are going to try and row as many lengths of a stretch of the river as they can in four hours. The club is raising money to pay for new boats and equipment. The enrichment programme was centred on the personal development of the students and designed to enable students to access the wider curriculum. The programme focussed on careers, life skills, enterprise, forensic science, performing arts, fashion, mock trial and a range of different activities.
