We have had the brilliant BBC Bitesize tour in this week to present to our Year 9 and Year 10 students. The assemblies focused on careers in the creative industries, but also on key skills such as resilience and team working. It was great to hear about the diverse range of careers at the BBC, the emerging creative media industry

We have a new extra-curricular club starting next week: QEHS Eco-Society. The club is open to all year groups and will be looking at ways we can move to be a more environmentally friendly school. We will be supporting Red Nose Day by holding a Non-Uniform Day on Friday 15 March 2019! Donations from Years 9, 10 and 11 (suggested £1 minimum) will be collected during registration on Friday. Sixth Form students will be able to hand in their donations to the Sixth Form Café, LRC and Pastoral Office.
To celebrate International Women’s Day last week, a group of our Year 10 girls had the opportunity to visit the Hexham office of Vattenfall UK, one of the world’s leading wind power developer and operators. The students took part in interactive sessions about women in leadership, the environmental and social impacts of a wind farm project, and inspirational women. Thank

Over 100 students took part in a challenging but highly enjoyable set of workshops with the American folk choir, Northern Harmony. These young and exciting musicians shared songs from a wide range of cultures and languages, and then – having really impressed our students with their energetic and skilled performances – went on to share those skills in very effective

Our German exchange students and their exchange partners have been on a trip to Edinburgh today. This year marks the 10th anniversary of our exchange with the Steinhagener Gymnasium!
The exam timetable for the summer GCSE and A Level exams is now available.
