Hexham Poetry Competition

Do you have a budding poet at home? Entries are now open for the annual Hexham Poetry Competition. The competition is held in honour of the Hexham-born feminist poet, Elizabeth Gibson Cheyne. German Exchange

Our German students are currently enjoying the first leg of this year’s German Exchange with our partner school in Steinhagen. Highlights of their trip have been attending lessons with their exchange partners, visiting the Dr Oetker factory where pizza and pudding tasting took place, and of course a day trip to the German capital, Berlin.  We look forward to seeing

Dance Workshop

In January we welcomed back ex-QEHS student and professional choreographer Beth Veitch who taught a workshop to year 9 students, inspired by her piece ‘Waiting on It’ which was presented at the Queen’s Hall in December. Students took part in a contemporary technique class and learnt a phrase of movement from the dance piece.
